最近天氣一下晴天、一下突然下大雨，
主要是因為台灣五月受到鋒面影響，天氣很不穩定的緣故。
而在這個春夏交替之際，也就是俗稱的『梅雨季』，大家知道梅雨季英文怎麼說嗎?
今天我們就來學學天氣的用語吧！

鋒面：front
滯留鋒：stationary front

梅雨季：plum rain season
The plum rain season in Taiwan comes between May and June.

※monsoon season
(國外因沒有梅雨這個說法，因此也有人將原意為雨季的
monsoon代替梅雨)

下毛毛雨：drizzle
It’s drizzling outside now.

下大雨：rain cats and dogs / pour down / downpour / rain hard
It’s raining cats and dogs.
The rain pours down.
We had a downpour this afternoon.
It's raining really hard.

淋濕：to be soaked
I am soaked because of the sudden rain.

落湯雞：a drowned rat
The heavy rain made me look like a drowned rat.

炙熱的：scorching / broiling
Today is such a scorching day, I don’t wanna go anywhere.

悶熱的：muggy
It’s so muggy today.

詢問外面天氣：

How is the weather out there?

隨著現代人生活習慣的改變，許多創新的英文單字也日應而生。
例如，週末假期大多數人習慣晚起，常常醒來已經接近中午時分，這時候起床後的第一餐，可以說是早餐也可稱為午餐，因此便有人將早餐breakfast與午餐lunch的部分字母組合而成了 “ brunch ”這個新的單字。

事實上，breakfast這個單字也是有趣的組合字，break當作動詞解釋為打破的意思，而fast若當做名詞則為禁食的意思，因此顧名思義，從睡覺到起床這段時間，身體都未進食，隔天醒來後的早餐即為打破禁食，早餐這個單字也因而產生了!

當然除了早午餐，也有人習慣將午餐延後、晚餐提前到下午時段，因此又有了午晚餐 “lunner “這個單字的產生!

首先我們先了解句子所要表達意思。
「Cindy已經決定明年要搬到台北。當她在那就讀美術學校時，她_________和她的阿姨一起同住。」
從意思上我們己經可猜出空格處所要表達的語法應為「會；將會」。同時第一個句子也明顯點出時間為明年，再來我們看到以When起首的句子動詞study用的時態雖為現在式 (以條件句陳述未來事件，條件句動詞可用現在式代替未來式，例：If it rains tomorrow, we won’t go to the movies. 假如明天下雨，我們就不去看電影。) ，但要注意的事整件事是屬於未來預設的，因此主要句的動詞還是必須以未來式will live來表達。

My favorite NBA player is Kobe Bryant, who plays for the LA Lakers.

我最愛的NBA籃球選手是湖人隊的柯比布萊恩。

前陣子網路出現了一則令人感動的新聞，照片中一位貌似窮苦的老人，在咖啡店享受著好心人提供的「待用咖啡(suspended coffee)」，而不久後，在台灣新北市板橋的一家麵店老闆娘也效法推出了「待用麵」，希望能溫暖需要幫助的人。事實上「待用」這個概念起源於義大利南部城市那不勒斯(Naples)的咖啡館，有心人希望盡自己微薄力量多付幾杯咖啡的錢，讓那些貧困、買不起咖啡的人也能享用到溫暖的咖啡。

「待用咖啡(suspended coffee)」的英文解釋為：People pay in advance for a coffee that is meant for someone who cannot afford a warm beverage.

afford v. 支付 beverage n.飲品

事實上suspend原來的字義為懸吊、中止、延緩的意思。
懸吊：The lamp was suspended from the ceiling.
中止：I have to suspend my studies for 1 year.
延緩：They suspend the activity because of the heavy rain.

“It has spread all over the world and in some places you can order not only a suspended coffee, but also a sandwich or a whole meal."
目前「待用咖啡」已流傳到世界各地，在一些地方你不僅可以喝到待用咖啡，甚至也可以吃到待用三明治或一頓全餐。
